What Does "First Fruits" Mean?

In Old Testament times, when God brought in an abundant harvest, the people would give a first fruits offering - an initial offering to the Lord off the top of that harvest. Doing this led to times of thanksgiving for God’s provision in the lives of his people.

When we look back over what God has done in our community of grace in the last year, we’re incredibly grateful. God has brought more and more people through our doors, searching for belonging and community with others. In a very real sense, God truly blessed us as we came together during a five-week capital campaign, and we pledged and gave generously toward the Adams Mill expansion project. As of right now, we’ve received $9.3 million in pledges and gifts—which means—we will be able to begin reconstruction of the building with cash on hand! God is so good!

Here are two things we’d like for you to consider throughout the remainder of January 2024:

  1. PRAY. Pray and thank God for what he’s done thus far through this expansion plan. This is a God-sized task, and thankfully, our God is able!
  2. Give as much of your pledge upfront as possible. We understand this isn’t possible or doable for everyone, but if we pledge as much as we can upfront, the less interest we pay and the further your dollar goes.

God has graciously given us so much in the last year. When you give upfront during First Fruits, your dollar goes further in the long run. So, during this first month of the new year, we hope you'll pray about giving as much as possible for you in order to be the best stewards of the funds God has entrusted to us. Consider giving as much of your pledge upfront here.

*We are a church located in Greenville, South Carolina. Our vision is to see God transform us into a community of grace passionately pursuing life and mission with Jesus.*
