COMMUNITY DISCUSSION GUIDE

Remember, this is a suggested guide. You do not have to follow this but it is a resource for intentionality within your group. Please feel the freedom to use some or all of this as well as add your own elements. 

This Sunday provides a unique opportunity to step outside of our regular life and group rhythms. We are a people called to live on mission, daily participating in the expansion of God’s kingdom and Jesus’ reign here on Earth. Every day, God is calling people to himself, and we get to celebrate the baptism of people who are making a public declaration of their faith and hope in Jesus. Rather than gathering together for a typical discussion, consider changing how you gather as a group this week, intentionally embracing the idea of Gospel expansion, reflecting on God’s saving work. 

GOSPEL REFLECTION GUIDE

Consider using your group time to share with each other a 3-5 minute version of your story of grace. It is hard for us to share our stories of grace with those who do not know Christ when we cannot share them with those who do know Christ. So, have a meal together and spend time sharing how the Gospel changed your life and the lives of those in your group.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 

Opening: If you choose to have a more traditional community group discussion. Open by sharing with one another your baptism story. When did you get baptized? What prompted you to get baptized? ….

1. What stood out to you this Sunday regarding baptism or Gospel Expansion? 
2. Share with one another about your “circle of influence.“ This could include…neighbors, coworkers, classmates, friends, family, and extracurricular activities you are involved in. 
3. Who within this circle of influence have you been praying comes to know the Lord? 
4. When was the last time you shared the Gospel with someone in your circle of influence or in life? 
5. What has been challenging about sharing the Gospel this past week? 
6. Is God calling you to join him through participating with one of our Gospel Expansion partners? 
7. What can it look like for the group to collectively live on mission, either in the community or as a community? 
8. What is one simple step you can take today toward living on Mission? 

Closing: Spend a longer time in prayer for those who you know are far from God but close to you. Also, spend a longer time in prayer for FG to saturate our community with the Gospel.
