Seeking Him - Lois' Story

by Lois Puckett

"I was blessed to have been born into a strong Christian family where my sister nor I ever questioned who was number one in our home....yes, his name is Jesus !!! Prayer was a daily part of our lives. Thanking him for his blessings, running to him for help and guidance when things were hard or difficult, asking him for protection when we traveled, praying for friends, neighbors, and their needs, etc., etc., was the way my parents lived. As I got too old to spank, my strict, but loving parents would instead talk to me about my disobedience, read a scripture that fit the crime, and end with prayer. I much preferred the spankings!!! However, now as I look back over these past 80 years, I would not trade that time for all the money in the world. I certainly don't mean to imply that things were perfect without struggles.....they certainly were not! I just learned 'where' or 'to whom' to run for help/answers when there was nothing I could do.

So, when Pastor Charlie, suggested in his recent sermon, after the COVID-19 shut down, that we all spend some time asking God what he is saying to us through this pandemic, I started praying that we, the Church, will take his suggestion seriously. II Chronicles 7:14, ESV is a loud call to each of us: "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." What a great opportunity to get to know our precious Lord and Savior even better than ever!!!" - Lois P.
