GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: MYANMAR
"Christian faith in Burma traces its roots to the missionary efforts of Adoniram Judson, who arrived in 1813 with his wife, Ann. The revised Judson Bible translation into Burmese is still the standard used by churches. Most Christians are from the Chin and Karen tribal groups, while relatively few of Myanmar’s Burman ethnic majority have come to faith. Myanmar has many Bible schools even though most are illegal, and indigenous church planters and missionaries boldly proclaim the gospel. Churches are growing despite widespread persecution by the government and the Buddhist majority. The Burman ethnic majority dominates and oppresses the other tribal groups. While political change has been frequently discussed, only superficial change has occurred and the military still effectively controls the country."
After the military coup a few years ago, the situation in-country continues to become even more volatile and unstable. They often suffer blockades, internet and power outages, and physical violence. (via: Voice of the Martyrs)
Way to pray: Please pray for justice and peace. Please pray for Christians to remain strong as they show the love of God to those around them.
MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: SHEPPARD
The Lord has given the Sheppards a special burden for the least-reached people groups of Liberia, especially the Manya. John Mark is working to translate and record the Bible in their language, along with teaching people to read and write in the mother tongue. Sara works with children, teens, and moms in their community, providing medical care, tutoring, daily meals, counseling, and discipleship. Check out the most recent newsletter here.
Way to Pray: John Mark and his team have recently completed the last revision of the New Testament translation. Praise God! Please pray that the Manya people who are hearing the word of God through dramatized audio programs would come to faith in Jesus. Pray for the Sheppards children and also the Liberian children who have become like family, that they would grow in their faith and knowledge of God’s Word.

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Agape English Language Institute is a school for adult international students. Students come from all over the world and from various religious, economic, and vocational backgrounds.
Agape is in need of Americans to host some of their international students. This is a great opportunity for the student to practice English, for the host to share God's love in a tangible way, and for both the student and host to learn about another culture.
Students come for 9 weeks to a year to learn the language, but some also want to experience life with an American family. This is a great opportunity to share your home, your lives, and the love of Christ with someone from another part of the world.
Host families are provided $1800 per session for each student that they host to cover some of the living and transportation costs. Host families can host a student(s) for a short-term stint like a week or two, for a whole session which is 9 weeks, or even longer if they choose.
